March 3, Fineko/abc.az. By February 2026, Iran had purchased the bulk of grain in the current season - more than 90% of the planned volume.
ABC.AZ reports that the country has already imported close to 1.9 million tons of wheat out of the projected 2-2.2 million tons, almost entirely from Russia.
Iran is expected to import 2.9 million tons of barley this season. Russia has already imported 2 million tons of its export potential of 2.2 million tons. In addition to Russia, Kazakhstan supplies barley to Iran. It has already exported nearly 600,000 tons out of potential 700,000 tons.
The active export of corn from Russia to Iran started in November 2025 and has now amounted to 1.95 million tons out of potential 2.2-2.3 million tons. Brazil is the largest supplier of corn to the Iranian market, which has already exported a record of 8.3 million tons against 5.3 million tons for the entire last season.
Experts note that due to military risks and rising logistical costs, disruptions in the Middle East are possible and grain prices will rise for buyers, but an automatic increase in export prices is not expected.
