March 5, Fineko/abc.az. The overall revenue from tourism in Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, Kuwait and Oman reached approx. $111 bn by the end of 2024.
ABC.AZ reports that this data highlights the key role of the tourism industry for the economies of the Gulf states, which have been actively investing in infrastructure development and income diversification in recent years.
All of these states were attacked by Iran last week, in response to attacks on its territory by Israel and the U.S.
At the same time, Turkey remains the region's leader in tourism revenue, earning $56.3 bn in 2024.
According to official data from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), this figure is slightly higher and amounts to $61.1 bn (8.3% more than in the previous year).
