33 new modules to be introduced in agricultural sector

12:51 - 11.03.2026

March 11, Fineko/abc.az. Introduction of 33 new modules is planned in the agricultural sector of Azerbaijan.

ABC.AZ reports that Surkhay Novruzov, Adviser to the Minister of Agriculture, made the relevant statement at a public hearing in the Parliamentary Committee on Agrarian Policy on the topic "Application of artificial intelligence in agriculture: results & prospects".

He noted that since 2020, detailed data on farmers has been collected in the Electronic Agricultural Information System (EKTIS). The database contains information about more than 600,000 farmers, including the exact location of the crop, the type and variety of plants, and the amount of harvest. Since the end of 2024, all the problems in the fields have been mapped.

Taking into account economic efficiency and the availability of data, the Ministry decided to create a roadmap of 33 modules that will help solve the problems of the state and farmers. The modules are integrated into programs including: farmer rating and plant species optimization, plant health monitoring and crop forecast, irrigation management and soil maps, orthophoto and pasture management, livestock management, fertilizer and pesticide accounting, early weed detection and disease mapping.

According to Novruzov, currently 7 modules are fully ready, 21 modules will be commissioned by the end of 2026, and all 33 modules by the beginning of 2027. The development of each module is based on data from various sources, with priority given to fundamental aspects of agriculture: soil, climate, and water.
