Wolfe Research: American consumers to cope with rising fuel prices

10:29 - 12.03.2026

March 12, Fineko/abc.az. Wolfe Research analysts believe that consumers in the U.S. are protected from the spike in energy prices caused by the conflict with Iran.

ABC.AZ reports that according to them, if gasoline prices rise by nearly $0.50 throughout the year, this will force "the redistribution of approx. $70 billion in consumer spending from goods and services to energy», creating "an obstacle to nominal GDP of about 0.2%", fiscal support and increased tax deductions. 11% will act as a "buffer".

Experts expect de-escalation of the conflict in the coming weeks, which will stabilize the market, while the accumulated resources will support a high level of consumer demand.
