US dollar rises and Japanese yen drops amid war in Iran

March 13, Fineko/abc.az. Against the backdrop of the war with Iran and uncertainty in global markets, the US dollar continues to strengthen.

ABC.AZ reports that the dollar has grown up to its highest level in the last 3 months on Friday and has been rising for the second week since the start of the war. One of the main causes of dollar's strength is that investors view it as a "safe haven" currency.

Major changes in currencies

The US dollar index rose 0.13% to 99.79 and shows weekly growth of 0.8%.

The euro fell to $1.1504, its weakest low since November.

The Japanese yen declined to $1 = 159,455 yens and reached its lowest level in 20 months.

The British pound dropped to $1.3335.
