Ready-to-eat food production in Germany has grown by a quarter in five years

January 15, Fineko/abc.az. In 2024, the production of ready meals in Germany increased by 25.6% compared to 2019 and reached 1.7 million tons worth €5.9 billion. In monetary terms, the growth was 45.4%.

ABC.AZ informs that in 2025, the trend continued: in the first 3 quarters, output grew by 2.8% up to €4.5 billion.

The production of noodles increased most noticeably (+56.4%), as well as meat (+43.2%) and vegetable (+7.2%) dishes. The production of frozen pizza observed growth by 8.4%, while the production of fish dishes decreased by 7.2%.

On average, German residents spend 41 minutes a day cooking, an indicator that has hardly changed in 10 years. At the same time, women spend almost twice as much time on this as men: 53 minutes versus 29.
