WB predicts slowdown in Azerbaijan's economic growth in 2026

16:01 - 16.01.2026

January 16, Fineko/abc.az. In the World Economic Prospects report, the World Bank forecasts Azerbaijan's GDP growth at 1.8% in 2026.

Experts note that country's economic activity will be restrained by a decrease in hydrocarbon production, falling global oil prices and tightening fiscal policy.

For comparison, Georgia's economy is to grow at 5.5%, while Armenia's is to grow at 4.9%. The preliminary peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan, reached in August 2025, can contribute to strengthening regional stability and deepening economic integration in the South Caucasus.

In the Europe and Central Asia region, growth slowed to 2.4% in 2025 due to lower consumption and external uncertainty, and inflation exceeded central banks' targets. The forecast for 2026-2027 assumes stable domestic demand and support for economic growth through the introduction of technologies and regional integration.
