Purchase of land for construction of airports to be considered a state necessity

February 27, Fineko/abc.az. In Azerbaijan, the list of cases providing grounds for the acquisition of land in the public interest has been expanded.

ABC.AZ informs that the relevant proposals on amendments to the Civil Code and the Law on the Acquisition of Land in the Public Interest were discussed at today's plenary session of the Parliament.

According to the draft law, land can now be acquired for the expansion of the territory of seaports and airports, airfields, as well as for the construction of similar new facilities.

The innovation relates to the need to meet the requirements of international aviation organizations, improve flight safety, create (expand) protected areas around airports, and build and expand new runways. At the same time, there is a need to acquire lands that are in municipal and private ownership. Previously, the absence of such goals in the law made it difficult to regulate property rights and promptly carry out expansion and construction work.

The new law will allow for more flexible acquisition of land plots during the construction and expansion of airports and prompt resolution of disputes.

The draft law was put to the vote after discussions and adopted in the 3rd reading.
