March 12, Fineko/abc.az. The Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) does not rule out a possible decrease in investment flows from the Persian Gulf countries to the Eurasian region amid the situation in the Middle East.
ABC.AZ reports that Alexander Zaboyev, the head of the Center for Integration Studies of the EDB, stated about this at the presentation of the report "Investment Dynamics in the Eurasian Region: Results & Trends". He noted that the events in Iran have not yet had an impact on investment activity in the region.
"The current processes are likely to have an effect in the future. The ongoing projects continue to be implemented, so this has not affected the current investment dynamics so far," Zaboyev said.
He stressed that the situation largely depends on further developments at the global and regional levels, as well as on the amount of resources needed to rebuild the infrastructure.
"In the medium term, this may reduce foreign direct investments from the Persian Gulf countries somewhat. But now it is impossible to give an unambiguous answer - assessments will become possible after the events," he added.
