March 13, Fineko/abc.az. Mediterranean Shipping Company (Switzerland) is planning to build a modern container terminal at the Snake Island port in Lagos as part of investments in Nigeria's infrastructure and logistics.

ABC.AZ reports that the company has signed a 45-year concession agreement with Nigerdock, as well as design and construction contracts with ITB Nigeria and DEME Group.

The total investment volume will exceed $1 billion. The project envisages construction of a 910-m-long berth for servicing deep-sea vessels, and the terminal area will be around 30 hectares. The new facility should increase the efficiency of the port and strengthen Nigeria's role as a regional transport hub.
