September 28, Fineko/abc.az. The cost of renting housing in Batumi has tripled this year, ABC.AZ reports quoting the head of the construction company Mardi Holding, Natia Sirabidze.

Now it costs $600 to rent a one- or two-room apartment in the city center, although in September 2021 prices did not exceed $200.

"In September, as a rule, rental prices decreased, but this year they remained at the level of August. Compared with 2021, the cost of renting apartments in Batumi has tripled," she stated.

She explains the situation on the market by two factors: an increase in visitors from the Russian Federation, as well as the return to Batumi of foreign students who studied remotely last year due to the pandemic.

As for the cost of apartments, according to Sirabidze, prices have increased by at least 50%. The price per sq m in the second lane last year was $500-600, and now it has grown to $900.

"The price increase was caused by demand on the one hand and the rise in price of building materials on the other," Sirabidze said.
