Why is meat more expensive in Baku than in districts?

December 1, Fineko/abc.az. Clarity has been brought to the issue that meat is cheaper in districts of Azerbaijan, but more expensive in Baku.

ABC.AZ reports that answering the question of MPs at today’s joint meeting of the Milli Majlis committees on economic policy, industry, entrepreneurship and on agrarian policy, Elmir Bagirov, the department head of the State Service for Antimonopoly Supervision & Consumer Market Control, said that there are economic factors here.

He noted that entrepreneurs are free to regulate meat prices.

"Meat prices are not regulated by the Tariff Council. There are economic factors that affect the difference in the price of meat. That is, there is the transportation of meat from the source to retail chains and other costs. But we are developing a draft law on internal trade, which will regulate relations between suppliers and retail chains, which, in turn, can have a positive impact on prices," he added.
