October 23, Fineko/abc.az. Azerbaijan imported 5,095.49 tons of seafood for $11.979 million for Jan-Aug 2020, ABC.AZ reports with reference to the State Statistics Committee.

The largest volume of seafood imported by the country for the first 8 months of this year included mainly 999.77 tons of frozen northern and southern poutassou from 68 categories for $2.382 million.

This species of fish is mainly imported from New Zealand. Azerbaijan imported 688.57 tons of frozen whiting for over $1.7 bn from this country alone for Jan-Aug of the year.

Frozen freshwater fish and sturgeon occupy the 2nd place in country’s seafood imports – 705.89 tons. These fish species were brought to the country from Russia.

The 3rd place belongs to Iceland, from where Azerbaijan imported frozen mackerel – 593.16 tons.
