April 27, Fineko/abc.az. After the spread of the coronavirus pandemic decreases, direct flights will begin between Azerbaijan and Pakistan, which will have positive impact on the economic and trade relations of both countries.

ABC.AZ reports that Azerbaijan's Ambassador to Pakistan Ali Alizadeh said this in an interview with the local press.

According to the diplomat, Azerbaijan has always been interested in the development of regional and transport ties:

“Currently, there are no direct flights between the two countries. Air traffic between both states is carried out via Turkish Airlines from Istanbul in the direction of Lahore-Islamabad via Baku."

The air service agreement between the two countries was signed in 1993, the Memorandum of Understanding was signed on 30 September 2009, and in January 2020, the code–sharing agreement was signed between the national air carriers.
