June 7, Fineko/abc.az. The Azerbaijan Food Safety Agency (AQTA) continues to monitor veterinary, phytosanitary and food products imported in the country.

ABC.AZ was informed at AQTA that as part of the control measures taken, the Agency's inspectors examined tomato seeds imported in Azerbaijan from Spain, owned by seed company Diamond Seeds.

As a result of research, the brown wrinkling virus was found in the product. The Agency prevented the entry into the retail network of tomato seeds on which the virus was detected, and destroyed the crop.

Also, the relevant agency of the producer country has been notified of a violation of the phytosanitary requirements of Azerbaijan and the requirements of the FTBS No. 13 in respect of plants and crop products imported in the territory of Azerbaijan and appropriate measures are being taken within the framework of the requirements of the legislation.
