SOCAR statement: A fire in Caspian Sea

July 5, Fineko/abc.az. No industrial facilities of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) were damaged due to the flames observed in the Caspian Sea on 4 July, ABC.AZ reports with reference to SOCAR’s statement.

SOCAR employees were sent to the scene to find out the cause of the fire.

On the island of Dashly (Dashly Ada), located in the sea between Alat settlement and the city of Neftchala, about 30 km from the coast, natural combustion of gases of a mud volcano was observed. At the time of observation, the flame was waning, there was no infrastructure related to the oil industry nearby.

All offshore platforms and industrial facilities of the company continue their activities in a normal mode.
