April 1, Fineko/abc.az. The situation that has arisen in connection with the growing tension between Russia and Ukraine is manifested in Azerbaijan in various spheres. One of the areas affected by this is the wallpaper market. This industry, which has no local production in the country, depends specifically on imports. The main importers are Ukraine and Russia. If you look at the statistics, last year Azerbaijan bought 9,989 tons of wallpaper from abroad (the front side is covered with a layer of painted and patterned plastic mass) in the amount of $31.5 million. Russia accounts for 22.9% in price terms, 18.3% in quantitative terms, and Ukraine accounts for 33.2% and 30.1%, respectively.

What is the situation on the local wallpaper market after the outbreak of the war? How much did this affect prices?

ABC.AZ reports that the head of the wallpaper store, Jabrail Huseynov, says that the goods ordered from Ukraine are not being received. Usually the goods arriving in 5-6 days are on the way for more than one month.

"In some firms, there is already a rise in price. Considering that we do not produce wallpaper, the prices are not bad. We import goods from China as well, we have a large assortment. Prices for Chinese goods have not yet increased. But prices for Ukrainian and Russian wallpaper have risen," he said.
