Hang Seng index fell sharply on Hong Kong Stock Exchange

March 14, Fineko/abc.az. A new trading week on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange has opened with a significant decline in quotations.

ABC.AZ reports that in the first minutes of trading the Hang Seng index fell by 556 points (2.71%).

For the first time in six years the Hang Seng index fell below 20,000 points, which is a psychologically significant level and amounted to 19,997 points.

The negative dynamics covers the entire spectrum of stocks, with the exception of the banking sector.

According to experts, the market is under pressure from the events in Ukraine, as well as the deteriorating epidemic situation in China.
