February 1, Fineko/abc.az. The foreigners in Azerbaijan spent AZN 1.278 bn by means of bank plastic cards for the past year.

The Center of Analysis of Economic Reform & Communications reports that compared with 2017, this figure grew by AZN 256 million or 25%.

"In December 2018 the foreigners and stateless persons carried out transactions using bank cards in the amount of AZN 82.9 million that is by 6% more against 2017," the Center said.

Azerbaijan was visited by 2.849 million foreigners and stateless persons from 196 countries last year. Of them, 30.9% of visitors are citizens of Russia, 21.4% - Georgia, 10.2% - Turkey, 8.5%-Iran, 3.3% - UAE, 2.6% - Saudi Arabia, 2.4% - Iraq, 2% - Ukraine, 1.4% - Israel, 17.2% - other countries and 0.1% - persons without citizenship.
