Azerbaijani leader received Director-General for Mobility & Transport


February 19, Fineko/abc.az. The head of the Directorate-General for Mobility & Transport of the European Commission (MOVE) has arrived in Baku.

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev received the delegation led Henrik Hololei, the Director-General for Mobility & Transport.

During the meeting President Aliyev said that Azerbaijan has become a serious international transport hub through the implementation of major infrastructure projects. The president stressed that Azerbaijan plays an important role in cargo transportation within the North-South, East-West and North-West projects and that specific works are underway.

During the meeting the sides also underlined successful development of relationships between Azerbaijan and the European Commission, importance of creating modern transport infrastructure, and the prospects of transport cooperation.

Mr. Hololei stated that he was in the districts of Azerbaijan and was impressed by development processes. He pointed out that the country has great potential for development of tourism and other spheres. The guest stated he had held fruitful meetings in Baku and highly appreciated the technical supply of the Heydar Aliyev international airport and the civil aviation system in Azerbaijan.
