Azerbaijan shows an interest to UK companies’ participation in country’s non-energy sector - UPDATED


December 14, Fineko/abc.az. Today, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has received the UK delegation led by Baroness Rona Fairhead, Minister of State for Trade & Export Promotion and co-chair of the Intergovernmental Commission.

At the meeting President Aliyev stated that the UK is the largest investor in Azerbaijan's economy.

"Azerbaijan is interested in participation of British companies as investors and contractors in projects in the non-energy sphere," the Azerbaijani leader stressed.

Baroness Rona Fairhead, in her turn, stressed that the UK government attaches great importance to bilateral relationships and considers Azerbaijan an important strategic partner.

During the meeting the parties exchanged views concerning the expansion of UK companies’ participation in projects on the territory of Azerbaijan in such spheres as tourism, education, alternative energy, agriculture, trade and mutual investments.
