November 18, Fineko/abc.az. Despite the incentive benefits provided to Azerbaijan by the government this year, the number of imported automobiles with hybrid engines has decreased.

ABC.AZ was informed at the State Customs Committee that last year the government exempted from taxes from 1 January 2022 for 3 years the import and sale to Azerbaijan of hybrid cars with production capacity of no more than 3 years and an engine capacity of no more than 2,500 cc.

According to customs authorities’ official data, in the first 10 months of 2022, Azerbaijan imported 9,770 cars with hybrid engines. This figure is 263 cars, or 3% less versus Jan-Oct 2021.

However, although a low quantitative indicator was registered, the import indicator increased. The cost of importing 9,770 hybrid cars amounted to $119.75 million ($61.06 million for Jan-Oct 2021).

At that, the number of electric vehicles covered by the tax benefit also does not show a noticeable quantitative growth. For Jan-Oct 2021, 106 e-Cars were imported into the country (368 vehicles for Jan-Oct 2022).
