Samir Sharifov: Finances to be allocated from budget for treatment of diabetes and cancer

November 11, Fineko/abc.az. When drafting the State Budget, recessions and crises occurring on a global scale, oil prices on the world market, as well as indicators within the country were taken into account.

ABC.AZ reports that Finance Minister Samir Sharifov stated this at a joint meeting of parliamentary committees on discussion of the Bill on State Budget 2023.

The minister pointed out that the submitted drafts of the state and consolidated budgets were prepared in accordance with the goals set in "Azerbaijan-2030: National priorities of socio-economic development", "Strategy of Socio-economic Development of the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2022-2026", approved by the orders of the country’s president.

The finance minister said that 24.2% of budget expenditures for 2023, or AZN 8.63 bn will be directed to defense and law enforcement spending. AZN 3 bn of capital expenditures will be spent on restoration work in the territories liberated from occupation, the implementation of the Great Return project, the construction of infrastructure and other activities.

Sharifov sais that in 2023 it is planned to allocate AZN 15.219 bn from the budget for socially oriented expenditures. This is AZN 1.289 bn, or 9.3% more than in 2022.

Stressing that healthcare costs have increased recently, the minister emphasized that AZN 106 million will be allocated from the budget for the treatment of diabetes and cancer.
