January 11, Fineko/abc.az. Since the beginning of trading operations, 16.4 bn cu m of gas have been transported to Italy via the TAP pipeline, which delivers Azerbaijan's natural gas to European markets. Of this volume, 9.6 bn cu m accounted only for 2022.

ABC.AZ reports that last year natural gas supplies to Italy increased by 41% against 2021.

TAP, which makes an important contribution to meeting Europe's energy needs, is currently the second source of natural gas supplies to Italy.

TAP started commercial gas transportation in December 2020. The pipeline delivers to Europe the natural gas produced at the huge Shah Deniz field in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea. TAP connects to the TANAP pipeline at the Turkish-Greek border, passes through Greece, Albania and the Adriatic Sea and comes ashore in Southern Italy.
