Azerbaijan and Belarus consider a possibility to establish container train route

January 24, Fineko/abc.az. Belarusian Railway (BCh) organized a roundtable on the theme "Export Potential of the Republic of Belarus in Organization of Container Transportation in Communication with Azerbaijan".

In the course of the roundtable BCh’s first deputy head Igor Shilov stated that actuality of development of these carriages is confirmed by their growth by more than 26% in 2018.

"This project will enable to deliver goods produced in Belarus to Azerbaijan for possibly shortest time (7 days) and at competitive rates," Shilov emphasized.

Russian Railways Transport Service Centre’s deputy head Alexander Katyanov said that together with BCH they prepared container train timetable, envisaging its transit through the territory of Russia for no more than 4.5 days.

In his turn, Azerbaijan Railways’ deputy chairman Igbal Huseynov assured the roundtable participants of readiness to render all possible assistance to the project, including its competitiveness with alternative types of transport.
