SOCAR signs an agreement with Snam

February 21, Fineko/abc.az. The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) and one of the world's leading energy infrastructure companies Snam signed an agreement on cooperation in the development of renewable gases and the use of sustainable energy, as well as the transportation of these gases in the future through the Southern Gas Corridor and the Trans-Adriatic Pipeline (TAP).

ABC.AZ reports with reference to SOCAR that the agreement was signed in Rome by representatives of SOCAR and Snam.

The agreement covers cooperation in areas related to energy transformation and the periodic economy.

In accord with the agreement the opportunities will be explored for research and development of the use of biogas and biomethane, and the creation of anaerobic processing plants. The experience of Snam’s subsidiary IES Biogas can be applied in engineering and construction of this type of enterprises.

SOCAR and Snam plan to assess potential joint investment opportunities on this issue. Sustainable transportation using liquefied natural gas (CNG), liquid natural gas (LNG) and hydrogen (H2) will also be supported, with the development of new gas stations. Cubogas, a subsidiary of Snam, may be involved in this project. Establishment of cooperation with car manufacturers and modifying of cars is possible as well.
