AzerGold: Assessment of gold reserves at Chovdar field increased

May 22, Fineko/abc.az. AzerGold has increased its estimate of the reserves of the Chovdar gold-bearing filed located in Dashkesan district.

ABC.AZ reports that this became known thanks to an intensive geological exploration program conducted by AzerGold.

"Thanks to the intensive exploration program conducted at Chovdar, the field's resources have been increased by 533,500 ounces (or 16.5 tons) and approved by international experts. Thus, if the initial reserves of the field were estimated at the level of 1.127 million ounces (35 tons), now this figure is 1.66 million ounces (or 51.5 tons) of gold,” AzerGold said in a statement.

Thus, the previously estimated resources of this field totaled 1.127 million ounces (or 35 tons). At the moment, production is successfully carried out within the onshore stage of the field's operation.

In order to increase the indicators for underground resources, and thereby increase the economic efficiency of the field's operation, large-scale drilling operations were carried out in 2018-2019, during which 145 geological wells were drilled with a total depth of 28,000 m.
