Hikmet Hajiyev: Azerbaijan does not back idea of deploying Russian peacekeepers in Karabakh

October 16, Fineko/abc.az. Azerbaijan does not support the idea of including Russian military observers in Nagorno-Karabakh, ABC.AZ reports, citing Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan Hikmet Hajiyev as saying in an interview with El Mundo newspaper.

He noted that Azerbaijan conducts operations not on the territory of another country, but on the territory under its sovereignty.

"We don’t believe that sending of these soldiers is acceptable right now. We don't need them at the moment," Hajiyev emphasized.

"First, the Armenian forces must leave and allow the displaced persons to return, and then we can talk about the forces of separation of the warring parties. Now it is very premature," he added.
