May 25, Fineko/abc.az. Today, President Ilham Aliyev, receiving Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, touched upon the matter of relationships between Azerbaijan and Iran.

ABC.AZ reports that the Azerbaijani leader noted that Azerbaijan and Iran have indeed made great progress in all spheres:

"I think that at the moment our countries’ relations are probably at the highest level in the history of our cooperation. Of course, there are new opportunities and challenges associated with the new post-conflict situation in the region, and, of course, Iran and Azerbaijan, as two fraternal countries, should coordinate efforts and contribute to long-term and sustainable peaceful development in the region for the benefit of all countries in the region. I’m sure the Iranian government shares the same approach. Because in the period that has passed since the resolution of the conflict, we have had numerous contacts. Probably, today we will touch on several important issues for a smoother passage of this process."
