4 more countries join gas exports from Azerbaijan to Europe

January 5, Fineko/abc.az. In addition to Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary, Slovakia and Austria will join the Southern Gas Corridor project for additional gas exports from Azerbaijan to Europe, ABC.AZ reports, quoting Bulgarian president Rumen Radev.

Having met with Turkish Energy Minister Fatih Donmez, the Bulgarian president also noted that due to small investments it will be possible to supply Azerbaijani gas to Europe. Cooperation between Turkey and Azerbaijan in the field of natural gas exports to Europe will play an important role in the energy security of the continent.

The construction of the Ion-Adriatic gas pipeline with capacity of 5 bn cu m is planned for transportation of Azerbaijani gas to the Balkan states. This belt will be continuation of Trans-Adriatic gas pipeline. After transportation of Azerbaijani gas to Albania via Trans-Adriatic pipeline, the Ion-Adriatic Belt will be built to deliver it to other Balkan countries. The Ion-Adriatic gas pipeline will connect with Trans-Adriatic gas pipeline on the territory of Albania. After the unification of the two gas pipelines, Azerbaijani gas will be supplied to Croatia, Montenegro, Bosnia & Herzegovina. The agreement on the construction of this belt worth 620 million euro was signed in 2007 and should be completed by 2025.
