May 5, Fineko/abc.az. ABC.AZ has been informed at the press services of the General Prosecutor’s Office and the Ministry of Economy that urgent operational search measures have been taken on the basis of information received about illegal actions of employees of the Operational Tax Control Department of the Main Department for Work with Small Businesses of the Baku City State Tax Service.

The investigators established that OTCD employees Azer Allahverdiev and Jahid Tahirov conspired and demanded 6,000 manats from the grain shop owner in exchange for not conducting tax audits during the current year.

As a result of urgent investigative & operational measures taken with the use of special technical means, both officials were detained on 4 May while receiving part of this amount as a bribe.

A criminal case under Article 311.3 (bribetaking) of the Criminal Code has been opened in the Main Anti-Corruption Department under the General Prosecutor’s Office. Both officials were arrested as suspects and brought to the investigation as there were grounds for suspicion of them of this crime.
