January 10, Fineko/abc.az. The vaccination process is ongoing in Azerbaijan in accordance with the Vaccination Strategy against COVID-19 for 2021-22.
ABC.AZ reports that an omicron variant of coronavirus has been identified in Azerbaijan, according to a joint statement of the Healthcare Ministry, the State Agency for Compulsory Health Insurance and the Azerbaijani Management Union of Medical Territorial Units (TABIB).
As part of the measures taken to control the epidemiological situation in the country, a regular analysis of the genetic variants of the virus is carried out.
The SARS-CoV-2 21K variant (omicron strain) was found in 12 PCR test samples taken from those who arrived in Azerbaijan from abroad.
"The results of the conducted studies once again show that the vaccination is the most effective way to protect against new and rapidly spreading dangerous variants of the virus,” the statement says.
