ABC.AZ reports that currently, the most popular representatives of professions in Europe include medical workers, sanitary technicians, nursing workers, systematic analysis, welding and transportation of goods by road.

Each country has a unique situation. But, according to the experts interviewed, the main reason for the shortage of labor in Europe is the fact of the aging population. Currently, there are only three people of working age for every person over the age of 65, and this trend is increasing.

Ramon Mahia, professor of applied economics at the University of Madrid, says that as the birth rate in Spain continues to decline, the potentially active population of the country is declining every year.

To the fact of the aging of the population as a whole, we should add the reasons characteristic of the revolution in the labor market. The shortage of personnel in specific profiles is a consequence of the transition to digital technologies in the labor market.

Another cause of increase in the number of vacancies in Spain, Portugal and Italy is low wages and unsatisfactory working conditions in certain sectors. These problems are more pronounced in the field of healthcare, hotel management and agriculture.

Salvatore Petronella, an expert at Labor Mobility Partnerships, an organization that studies migration flows, believes that European countries suffering from the fact of population aging will eventually introduce an open door system for foreign labor.
